ARSENAL NEWS: GUNNERS FACE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE NIGHTMARE AS ALEXANDER ISAK PRICE EMERGES

Arsenal are now fully focused on the summer transfer window after just missing out on the Premier League title.

The Gunners ended up second in the top-flight, which secured them Champions League football for next season. But they are now facing a nightmare group stage as they look to go better than their European campaign in the season just gone.

That news comes as the Gunners were told of Newcastle's mammoth asking price for Alexander Isak. The striker is one of Mikel Arteta's top targets heading into the summer but he may now be forced to ditch his pursuit of the Swede.

If the move for Isak does work out, Arteta may be pushed to still go for striker, judging by Cesc Fabregas' analysis. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest Arsenal news.

Champions League nightmare

Arsenal are facing up to a nightmare Champions League draw after Atalanta were crowned as Europa League winners. Gian Piero Gasperini's side earned a 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen thanks to Ademola Lookman's hat-trick.

It means Italy may have six teams in the Champions League next season, if Roma secure a place. They would move into the top seeding block, with Arsenal expected to be put into the second seeding block.

Under the new league-style competition rules, every team will play two clubs from the four seeding pots. In the worst-case scenario, the Gunners might have to face Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain from Pot 1 and Barcelona and Juventus from Pot 2 should they drop into the third seeding third.

Fabregas urges striker signing

Cesc Fabregas has urged former club Arsenal to sign a top-class striker in the summer transfer window. The former Gunners skipper believes Mikel Arteta's side paid the price for not having an out-and-out goalscorer in their team.

"I think it’s funny because the other day you are watching both games at the same time and when you think about it you say, 'Wow, Man City really have like two teams basically that could win the Premier League'," he told BBC Sounds’ Planet Premier League podcast.

"Arsenal don’t in this regard, so for me it’s a bit of everything. Havertz, he’s had a fantastic season, but if Arsenal can manage to get a top, top striker that can guarantee you 30 goals a season, then they will be much, much, much closer to getting it [the title]."

Newcastle set mammoth Isak asking price

Newcastle demanding close to £200million for Alexander Isak, as they look to fend off interest from Arsenal this summer. Isak has emerged as a top target for the Gunners as they look to upgrade their options at striker.

But the Magpies are desperate to keep hold of the Swedish international following his excellent season. They have laughed off reports suggesting £90m would be accepted for the striker.

Boss Eddie Howe considers Isak to be an integral member of his squad next season. And Newcastle will do everything they can to price prospective buyers out of a move.
